We finally got a rainy day here in sunny LA! I love the sunshine, but sometimes I just need a rainy day… even if it is just for the sake of getting things done at home. PJ’s, baking, house-chores and crafting! During the tidying of the second bedroom, (which I am currently working on turning into a home office…posts on that soon) I came across some leftover fabric swatches and sheets of cork. The swatches were already nearly-perfect square shapes, so the idea for a quick coaster DIY just kind of dawned on me. They turned out to be really cute! I love this mis-match look.
Here is what you will need:
Swatches of fabric in your choice of pattern
A sheet of cork. You can find some here on Amazon.com
Mod Podge outdoor glue and sealant.
A sturdy paint brush or paint sponge for application
Start with some swatches of fabric. Cut them into even squares of 4x4 inches.
Don’t worry too much about frayed edges, you can tidy them up later on.
Cut your cork board into even squares using scissors or a paper cutter.
Squeeze a good amount of Mod Podge onto a cork square, spreading evenly with your brush or sponge.
Place your fabric swatch on top immediately before your Mod Podge dries, pressing firmly and evenly.
Top with another thick coat of Mod Podge to seal the coaster and make it waterproof.
(Dilute with a little water if needed).
Voilà! Custom kitchy coasters!
