Easy Apple Biscuit Pull Apart Bread

In a few hours, it will be Christmas day! I love Christmas morning, although I have to admit that in the past, Christmas morning breakfasts always consisted of whatever candy was found in my stocking. I get it. Who has the time or energy to make a fancy breakfast after all of the shopping, wrapping, and cheesy Christmas movie marathon-ing? That's where this recipe comes in. Now, I use the word recipe pretty loosely. This is more of a 'I threw this together and hoped for the best' recipe. Non-recipe? Anyway, it's easy enough that you probably can't mess it up.

  • 1-2 fresh apples, chopped.
  • 1 package refrigerated flaky biscuits
  • Brown sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • About 1/2 cup Maple syrup
  • 1/2 stick melted butter
  • Powdered sugar
  • Milk

Grease a medium spring form pan with butter. Chop 1-2 apples, and toss into the bottom of the pan. Try to cover most of the bottom with apples. Sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon and brown sugar. Cut the refrigerated biscuit dough into little chunks and arrange over the apples. You can even toss some apple chunks in with the biscuit chunks to get some bites of apple throughout. Sprinkle with a good amount of brown sugar and some cinnamon. Drizzle about 1/2 cup of maple syrup over the top. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for about 20-30 minutes, or until the biscuits chunks are doubled in size and starting to brown. (*Tip: place a cookie sheet on the rack below your pan to catch any drippings) Once done, remove from oven and place on a cooling rack for 5 minutes. Remove from the spring form pan, and flip over on to a cooling rack. Gently remove the spring form base from the top to reveal the apples. Melt butter, add powdered sugar, cinnamon and a splash of milk if needed. Drizzle over the top. Pull apart and enjoy with a good cup of coffee!

Hope this 'sort-of' recipe helps to make your morning merry!
