Quick and Easy Latte (No Fancy Machine Needed)
I love coffee. My go to beverage is a latte, and I love making them at home. What I don't love? Getting out my espresso machine, grinding beans, steaming milk, and ugh...cleaning it all up. That's just for one cup! The process can be fun when there's time to spare, but who has time to spare? So... I decided it was time to find another way to make a great latte, quick, and with little clean up. Sounds like a dream, right? Well wake up! You've got a latte to make!
What you need:
Instant espresso powder (I love these organic, single serve packets)
Your favorite milk (I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
An 8 oz. mason jar (Tall half pint works best)
Fill a mug with water, a little over halfway full. Microwave for 2-3 minutes to get it really hot, but not boiling. Dissolve instant espresso powder in the hot water. Stir to ensure it is completely dissolved. Heat 1/4 to 1/3 cup of milk in an 8oz. mason jar without the lid on for 1 min.
**The lid is metal DO NOT put in the microwave** Remove from the microwave using a hot pad just in case the jar may be hot. Screw the lid back on top of your mason jar and shake vigorously for at least 30 sec. This will create foam! Remove the lid. Using a spoon to cradle the foam, carefully pour the hot milk into your espresso. All that should be left in the jar is foam. Use a spoon to scoop the foam into your latte.
The only clean up is the jar, mug and spoon. So quick and easy, you'll be making fancy lattes everyday!
Enjoy your caffeine rush!
